SAFER-CARING
This course supports foster carers to promote the safety and well-being of children and young people in foster care. It considers how the concept of safer care aims to protect the wellbeing of the child, carers and their families, promoting the understanding of a range of themes relevant to a safer care agreement, to support minimising the risk of allegations being made against carers.
OBJECTIVES
  • To consider what is Safer caring for foster carers
  • Understand how it links to the National Minimum Standards 2011
  • To consider the concept of risk
  • Gain insight into how safer care is protective for the child, foster carers and their family
  • To consider the role of the safer care policy
  • Identify how everyone in the fostering household can be involved and protected
