DE-ESCALATION
This course enables learners to recognise, understand and manage behaviour in vulnerable children in an effective trauma informed way. It explains anger, what it might look like, and how you can learn to recognise it. The course also presents a description of stress, the brain, behaviours and helps learners to develop methods to help avoid and minimise the need for physical intervention.
OBJECTIVES
  • Demonstrate and reinforce expected behaviour skills with the children in their care
  • Identify how to intervene early in the escalation sequence to manage behaviours appropriately
  • Identify environmental factors that can be manipulated to create a supportive environment
  • Identify replacement behaviours that can be shared and adopted by/with children in care
