CULTURAL COMPETENCE
This course is designed to support those caring for children from different backgrounds, challenging racism and implementing strategies for children and young people to deal with racism. This course will provide foster carers and Social Work staff with a sound level of understanding and ability to promote equality, diversity, and rights of individuals and groups within society.
OBJECTIVES
- Describe how our own preconceptions can influence outcomes for children in our care
- Share experience of best practice through using case studies and active learning
- Introduce the areas of legislation and how we can ensure compliance
- Explore the issues in caring for a child placed within a family who's ethnicity is different to their own
