- To gain knowledge of the legal context of national child protection and safeguarding procedures.
- To gain an understanding of Working Together principles and the contribution foster carers, kinship and other professionals make to the working together and safeguarding agenda
- To consider the importance of the lived experience of a child, their voice and their rights
- To recognise the types of abuse through understanding signs, indicators
- To know what to do when a child discloses abuse and identify next steps
- To gain an understanding of the assessment of risk outside the home (contextual)
- To engage in peer reflection and learning from a trauma informed perspective
