Marcus Rashford unveils food poverty taskforce

Footballer Marcus Rashford has unveiled a new food poverty taskforce with the backing of major supermarkets in a bid to tackle rising food inequality. In an open letter to government, Rashford calls for longer-term solutions to stop increasing numbers of families going hungry. The 22-year-old who is working in partnership with FareShare and the Food Foundation, said in his letter that the progress made by his previous victory on free school meals “was only ever going to support this issue in the short-term”.
