Education unions have branded the government’s scheme to supply laptops to the most disadvantaged children a “national scandal” after new figures showed a third of devices are yet to be delivered two months after the scheme was unveiled. Latest figures published by the Department for Education show that since the £85m scheme was announced in April, 68,000 of 230,000 laptops have not been sent to local authorities and multi-academy trusts across England.
