The Centre for Excellence for Children’s Care and Protection (CELCIS) has published a report looking at care leavers’ experiences of digital exclusion before and during the coronavirus pandemic in Scotland. Findings from an online survey and focus groups with care leavers carried out between September and November 2020 found that the experience and issues which underpin digital exclusion were exacerbated by the pandemic. Recommendations include: rolling out digital access for all care leavers by integrating this into the pathway planning and support in all local authorities; and upskilling workers to ensure they can better support young people to develop their digital skills.
