The Scottish Government has published information on education outcomes for looked after children for the year 2018/19. Findings include: 35% of looked after children left school with one or more level 5 Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) qualification – up from 23% in 2012/13 – compared with 85% of all pupils in 2018/19; the rate of exclusion for looked after pupils has fallen to 152 pupils per 1,000 looked after pupils in 2018/19 from 280 per 1,000 pupils in 2012/13; the attendance rate of pupils looked after in a foster care placement (95%) was higher than that for all pupils (93%).
